Was Paulo Filho cornered by Team Jesus?

According to an update by MMA Mania :

“What is he looking at? WHO IS HE LOOKING AT? I feel like I’m watching the movie with Woody Harrelson and he [Paulo Filho] is talking to Jesus or someone in the middle of the ring. Who is in there talking to him?”
– WEC ringside announcer Frank Mir (along with the rest of the fans who witnessed the fight) was clearly puzzled by the performance and actions of WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho in the cage last night against Chael Sonnen at WEC 36: “Faber vs. Brown.” The Brazlian jiu-jitsu phenom — who had been widely considered a consensus top five 185-pound fighter in the world — was a shell of his former self at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. He flopped around on the floor and barely mustered any sort of attack in the 15 minute bout, which he lost via unanimous decision. Perhaps the most bizarre and alarming aspect was Filho looking off into the crowd while engaged, talking to himself and appearing lost after the fight when he didn’t seem to know which corner was his. Filho has had issues with depression and chemical dependency in the last 12 months or so. And it appears that he still has to be dealing with them — he is clearly not well. Hopefully those around him (physically) can ensure he gets the help he needs sooner rather than later.

That was just weird, I dont know what he was thinking.. he should lose his belt anyway after last night I dont think he planned on fighting

I really don't know what to think of this guy...i think he was misunderstood with his comments and I gave him a second look and the benefit of the doubt...he was given a leave to clear up his head and then last night. This is very sad in the fact that Fihlo was said to have been the heir apparent to Anderson Silva in the UFC's Middleweight division. Great...new fights, challenges...and a new champion, so we thought. Last night was a big ass puzzle piece and only Fihlo knows what the hell is going on. He a clueless soul right now, or at least in the ring. I don't even wanna go into what his personal life might be like...this vato is straight trippin'!!! I say he's blown his shot in the UFC...do you think that Dana is gonna hold his hand thru this...i mean Rampage was different as he was already in the UFC and a former champ and all...Fihlo needed to impress especially after not making weight...I think he may have blown it

If the middleweight division of WEC was not being disbanded anyway, I totally agree that Filho should be stripped of the belt for failing to make weight and for failing to engage in defense of his title. I also think he should forfeit his total purse to his opponent, as Sonnen clearly came to fight, making weight like a professional and taking care of business. Don't know what team Filho was on, but it wasn't Team Planet Earth...

That was some really bizarre behavior from a champion and undefeated fighter.He's flushing his career down the toilet right B4 our eyes.Doesn't this guy have anybody that cares enough about him to point him in the right direction for the necessary help? It sure doesn't appear that he does.

If you ask me, I think that Paulo came in over weight intentionally because he knew that he could not defeat Chael. This was evident in their last fight were Paulo was completely overwhelmed until he was able to get that arm bar. Being overweight was the only sure way to retain his title. But the fight was pretty damn weird though! I feel bad for Chael, he deserves that title.
